The factory reset method might not work on some models. On my Sony BDP-S6700, (Blu-Ray, 2016) there is a 'Resetting' item in the Setup menu. Within this there are two options: 'Reset to Factory Default Settings' and 'Initialize Personal Information'. I tried the factory defaults option, but continued to experience the 400 error as soon as I tried to launch YouTube.
I see that a lot of people praise this sony, although I have received. Hello, that if any one knows, how update fw on sony 32v4500?tnx. HDMI cable Sony Bravia KDL-32V4500 for 1-2 years and it worked out wonderfully. Been on google searching for days trying out different methods but none.
The behavior was exactly the same as before the reset. No prompts appeared before the error, I just saw the spinning white activity indicator in the top right on a black screen, then the error appeared on a white screen. I chose 'Initialize Personal Information' and then tried YouTube. YouTube loaded and then prompted me to sign in if I wanted to - I did and it's all working again. I have a second BDP-S6700, so I checked it and it was showing the 400 error in YouTube as well.
On this second unit, I did 'Initialize Personal Information' without first doing a factory reset. Upon launching YouTube, I was prompted to sign in just as with the other unit.
YouTube is working normally again. The sign in process was different than I remember from months ago and I wonder if a change in that contributed to this glitch. It seems rather like a similar issue on desktop browsers and YouTube with sign-in, old cookies, and the 400 error. DeeLite310 30/3/2018, 16:59 น. Factory reset is not a reliable solution as the error can keep recurring.
I wrote this in a post last night, which now can't be read as it was redirected to here: 'sony bravia youtube app repeatedly stops working despite repeated factory resets sony bravia KDL-32W705C / software version: PKG3.004EUA / austria first occurrence of youtube app freezing on start-up: 30 March, 2018 - ca. 02:30AM CEDT i have twice tried the suggestion to do a hard factory reset - that does work but only for a few hours then the app freezes again. Do not tell us to keep doing factory resets.' It took me ages to re-enter all my personalized settings twice.
I will only try another reset when it has been confirmed here that the problem has been fixed at the coding root. Joan Francesc Romero 31/3/2018, 2:25 น. As I said before, my experience is that the problem is that if you start the app and then 'sign in', if you close the app and start it again it will automatically try to sign you in again at which point it fails and you can't reverse out. If you do the factory reset (necessary to uninstall the youtube app) and then do not sign in or register your device then the app will stop and start again fine. At least it does on my KDL-48W600B.
What you have lost is your personalized settings, a bit inconvenient but with effort can work around this. Joan Francesc Romero 31/3/2018, 3:11 น. Short solution (no reset needed): Try to get to your TV's browser app.
Check if YouTube works there. Delete your browser cookies. Go to YouTube app.
Log-in again. Hope it will work for you! Background: Didn't know if someone already posted this, but I found another solution. Some devices give you the possibility to reset personal information. I saw this also might resolve our problem.
But on many Sony TVs there isn't such an option. So I tried to use YouTube on my TV's browser and there was an error message, too. Some guessed it is a log in problem and this seems to be the case. So I deleted the browser's cookie and the YouTube website worked just well.
But to my surprise this also solved the problem within the YouTube app. I just had to re-log-in and everything works fine. I the error message come again, I will write here again.
Joan Francesc Romero 31/3/2018, 5:13 น. The YouTube app stopped working on March 30 2018 just like everyone else appears to have done. I live in Australia. I did a factory reset on March 31 and everything seemed to work again. I went out later that day, turning the TV off of course.
When I got home I tried YouTube again and it was back to the same problem, just showing YouTube logo and going no further. All my other apps on the TV work fine including Netflix. I can receive YouTube through my computer and Play Station 4 but that is inconvenient for my use. I was reluctant to use the Web Browser solution on my KDL-48W600B since it is close to impossible to navigate in pages using the remote control. I decided to try the cache settings solution, so opened the browser and it took me to a Sony page which asked me to select language.
I did this and it opened another page. Both pages were completely impossible to navigate in using the remote control up, down, left and right buttons. True to form the browser is useless. However on a hunch I tried the 'Options' button on the remote and one of the options presented is to clear the cookie cache. So I cleared it and switched cookies off. Now I can sign in to Youtube using my account and it seems to be stable. Anon amous 31/3/2018, 11:26 น.
2014 bravia models with SEN (non android) will not allow you to delete cookies, or reset personal info. Only thing you can do it factory reset the tv. Youtube will work for 5 minutes and then lock up again.
When you call sony they tell you reset it, but it's not working properly. You can't sign into youtube either or it will permanently freeze and you will have to reset. This is a serious problem and will make me consider other brands for my next tv purchase. It's bad enough this 4k flagship tv won't even play a 4k youtube video because sony doesnt want to provide firmware updates anymore.
This tv was retail $8000, fool me once sony. Subsider1 31/3/2018, 13:25 น. I am in 3rd day w/o YouTube.
All other apps will connect, except I ONLY WATCH YOUTUBE. I've done everything multiple times. I called Sony, they said wait ANOTHER 24 hours. Wait for WHAT?! I'm disabled and now on fixed income.
I cannot afford another player or TV. Is there some way to connect my tablet direct via HDMI cables to TV (I can't broadcast thru bdp because to connect I have to be ON THE YOUTUBE APP) What size adaptor for HDMI.
Then I can smash the Sony unit. Any help appreciated. Rick Glisson 31/3/2018, 15:56 น. Hey, this worked for me but on my Sony KDL-40W600B TV, I had to do it a little different: 1 & 2 as above 3. Allow the app to open; it will open to the Sony homepage.slowly.you may be able to go to step 4 while it's loading 4. Press the options button on the remote 5. Arrow down to Browser Settings and click (or whatever the round middle button is called on the remote) 6.
Arrow down to Delete All Cookies and click and now YouTube should work.for how long, who knows. Victor guerra 1/4/2018, 15:09 น.
Sony BDP-S7200 here. YouTube went a bit weird a few weeks back with no clear pattern as to what material it would or would not play. I logged a ticket with Sony, who I am losing faith and patience in, rapidly. Tonight I was briefly bored and tried again, now getting this 400 error others have reported. I have tried every single suggestion made by Sony (you know the usual power it off, unplug it, check s/w version and much more) and finally resorted to a factory reset.
My concern now focuses on the fact I've had previous painful experience of what would appear to be Sony not managing 3rd party media streaming services, coupled with an appalling level of technical support and customer service. I dearly hope this can be fixed without needing that sort of help again. ไปกะปิ๊ง 2/4/2018, 17:48 น.
I tried the cookie deleting option on my KDL-40W605B and it worked. The browser app is at the end of the app list and indeed has a WWW logo. When in the browser, navigating the page with the remote is impossible. Just do nothing and press the OPTIONS button on your remote. Go to NAVIGATOR SETTINGS then DELETE COOKIES. I just had to log back into YouTube (easy if you use the app via your smartphone) and now it works perfectly again.
Thanks for the solution! SIVASUBRAMONIA PILLAI B 3/4/2018, 10:52 น. My Sony TV YouTube app worked fine for years up until the end of March, 2018. I did not want to reinitilize all my settings so I tried the second recommended method and it worked (surprisingly)! Here are the steps for the fix that worked for me: Launch the web browser from the App menu (NOT the YouTube app) Select Options Select Browser Settings Select Delete all Cookies Like I said, I don’t know why it worked but it did! Good luck to others with the same issue!
Inkspot 7/4/2018, 10:20 น. I have a Sony android TV XBR-55X850c. When app is selected it doesn't start all I get is a gray screen. I can exit by using home button. I did a factory reset. I tried the YouTube app before it was updated. Then after updating the app with play store and was back to grey screen.
Uninstalled update in play store. App starts but when video is selected it indicated its working but video never starts. Just did the whole thing again with Sony support with same results! I was told it was an app problem and to contact YouTube support. Also other apps i have no problem streaming videos. Krishna Theja 16/4/2018, 13:43 น. In a way its true.
But while using the casting (from mobile / tablet /computers), the first step in the youtube app (credentials check/ authorization / AD pop-up) will be skipped. Basing on my analysis, it appears that the issue is due to 'ad-pop-up at the beginning of youtube video, this is blocking the whole process.
As Ad is not pop-ing up, video is not getting initiated. From the TV if you keep switching many videos, at some video, when you hit a video without any ad, then your video gets played smoothly. C01D Blue ST0NE 16/4/2018, 16:08 น. It still staggers me that although I have my (not so) loved Sony products registered with them, so they know my models and serial numbers, and how to reach me - they seem incapable of proactively contacting owners of kit that is affected by issues, to acknowledge the problems exist, and to offer guidance in respect of resolution. Instead it's down to us to dig around and generally find more useful help on 3rd party sites. I mean, how hard can it be?
Furthermore, in light of personal data sharing scandals in the news, it begs the question, what's the bloody point of registering your kit with them in the first place? It all seems a bit one way to me. After all, they still manage to push out marketing blurb via our details, so why not something we actually need?

How is it a problem with my Sony Smart TV If YouTube worked for two years. Now all of a sudden a lot of people are now are experiencing the same problem.
At the same time. Not just Sony and with a many different devices. If the TV works after doing a factory reset it's because it's using an earlier version of the app. And in my case and others once the app updated to the newest version the problems comes back! Now your telling me that its Sony's responsibility to make the TV work with the updated app!
It seems the problem only manifests itself on my Sony UBP‑X800 player if any settings for the YouTube app are changed. Therefore the way to avoid the issue seems to be as follows: 1. DO NOT Sign In to your YouTube / Google account on the player; 2. DO NOT change any other settings, e.g. Do not turn the sounds off. The problem has occurred twice on my player - specifically after I did those things and the solution was to Reset (Delete) the Personal Info.
I had to reinstall / reconfigure all the streaming apps then - Prime Video, Netflix etc. I hope this helps. Not Important 22/9/2018, 14:07 น.
